Giants Bringing Back Bochy and Sabean
SAN FRANCISCO – A reliable source said managers Brian Sabean and Bruce Bochy who are about to end their contracts are now on the verge of completing new deals with the San Francisco Giants team. The person who asks to remain anonymous also said there are still more details of the deal that must be arranged that is why the club has not made any announcement as of this time. The announcement may yet to come but it is expected this will be on Monday when Bochy and Sabean will deliver their usual after-season speeches.
However, Bochy said he still cannot confirm it even though the Giants made an impressive win against Arizona with a 7-3 score in their last game on Thursday. He has still three more games in his sleeve and this is where he put his focus first. Accordingly, he is still under the contract of the Giants. When Sabean was called up, he did not call back for his comments.
In 2007, Sabean was given an extension of another two years that is why until now he still works for the Giants. For Bochy his three-year contract, which is worth an estimated $6 million dollars, expires this end of the season.
Consequently, the San Francisco Giants were eliminated on Wednesday night and will surely miss the playoffs for the sixth season but partner manager Bill Neukom will still do changes to make progress for the team. Neukom is now running the show but both
Bochy and Sabean are still doing their jobs and attend meetings for the next season?s preparation. Meanwhile, many were still optimistic that everything will be alright and put back everything back in place. Recently, Neukom said he will announce about Bochy and Sabean?s status when the season is over.
Sabean had a meeting with Neukom on Saturday to talk things over. Sabean is already on his 13th year as the general manager of the Giants and he led the team to win the 2002 World Series as well as the 1997, 2000, and 2003 NL West crowns. Sabean was once criticized for favoring players to sign big contracts such as when he signed in pitcher Barry Zito and center fielder Aaron Rowand. At present, Neukom is now on the reign and trying hard to improve the team?s performance in preparation for the next season.
