Phoenix player Raffi Torres was suspended by NHL for 25 games at a stretch for his action against Marian Hossa of Blackhawks due to which he had to leave the field in stretcher. This punishment was declared one day after Raffi had his hearing for the league in NY.
At 11:51 of the first session of play Raffi jumped into Hossa with his shoulder hitting against the head of Hossa. He was issued a statement for this act by the NHL players association.
Torres said, “My prime concern now is the recovery process of Hossa, I hope that he recovers soon and get down to the field as soon as possible.”Also Torres said that he will be deciding about the suspension that whether he should appeal or not.
Blackhawk’s captain Jonathan said that he is satisfied to see at least some sort of justice but that does not bring down Hossa onto the field.
Torres suspension is the 2nd longest suspension in the history of NHL. Patrick Kanes said, “We thought that he will get a suspension of around 10 games. But then seeing the verdict of the authorities it is clear that they want to eradicate this kind of cheap action from the game.” This was the 3rd time in the 13th month span that Torres is being suspended for some kind of action of his.
The general manager of Phoenix, Coyotes said the verdict about Raffi is very severe in nature. This verdict will make him seat in the benches four seven games series at a stretch. Torres had to lose about $21,341 per season in which he sits out.
Brendan the disciplinarian said that the verdict about Torres was due to hi interference, charging and the illegal check on the head of Hossa. He also added that he has a history of this kind of acts in his recent past.
Earlier Torres did receive a suspension of about two games for charging Nate Prosser, defensemen of Minnesota wild. He also did receive four game suspensions for hitting the head of Edmonton Oilers forward Jordan Eberle.
Brendan Morrison, centre of Blackhawk said, “It is a persisting scenario among these guys. More suspension happened in the recent past but still the message is not getting into the head of these players.”
After being penalised for so many time in the recent past Torres became the 9th player who have been suspended for out for blood playoff.

According to Luke Donald, he has provided enough proof to assert that he is one of the best in the world, although he does not have the No. 1 rank. It was a disappointing week for Donald at RBC Heritage as he got even-par 71 this Sunday. It was required that he finished in the top eight to defend his top spot. But instead, he was as far as 16 shots from the lead. His spot will be now taken over my Rory McIlroy with the release of new rankings on Monday.

“It is not at all a concern for me,” says Donald. “I definitely would have liked to have played with a bit more consistence this year. I had gathered the momentum rather nicely last year winning a bunch of tournaments. Due to that, there is this change that is going to take place in world rankings.”

Donald enjoyed the No. 1 rank for almost 40 weeks, and McIlroy ended that run with a win at Honda Classic tournament last month. Donald took just two more weeks after that to reclaim his spot with a victory at Transitions Championship.

McIlroy, who is just 22 years old, took a break in the week that followed the Masters. He spent his visiting Copenhagen, where his girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki resides.

McIlroy is slated to be off the field for three weeks more. His comeback will be at the Wells Fargo Championship. It will take place at Charlotte, N.C.

Donald used to be cheered by huge galleries at the RBC Heritage. But for the pairing of Colt Knost and Pettersson, he completed his tournament in about 30 minutes and met with a mild applause.

Donald never gave up though and played valiantly, ascending and descending from a dugout which was just behind the signature No. 18th hole at Harbour Town. Still, Donald failed to meet his own expectations.

Donald battled back by hitting par saves on the 3 finishing holes of the course. But he could not materialize his charge on Saturday was headed home long time before the prize ceremony even began.

“It feels so strange when one gets up early and realizes he does not stand a chance of victory,” he said. “It is very difficult to keep oneself inspired for every round and shot to be played.”

It was after the defeat of team Ajax by Manchester United that Alex Ferguson admitted that he made wrong selection. Due to the selection error team Manchester United had to go through the next round of Europa League with an average score of 3-2 and that is also after defeating a team like Ajax in 2-1.
United is thankful to Javier Hernandez as his performance helped the team to secure a position in the Uefa league with an average rate 3-0. Along with this the last week win of the team with an average pint of 2-0 secured in the city of Amsterdam helped the team a lot to secure the position.

Ajax on the other hand also played very well to balance its loss and it was Aras Ozbiliz who made it easy for the team by giving goals consistently. Another player of the team enhanced the approach of Ozbiliz that is Nicolas Lodeiro as he was always there with the former to handle the ball carefully.

A late goal was then offered to the audience by Toby Alderweireld and this is where Ferguson admitted that he made wrong selection in the sense that he selected a lot of young players to be played as defense. If he would have selected the exact players the scenario would have changed a lot. It would have not been difficult for the team to secure the win if it would have all its potential players as defense.

Just after the match a press conference was held where Ferguson reported to channel five he was very disappointed with his own team selection. He accepted that it was his sole responsibility that the team lost the game as he trusted several young players, more than the older and experienced ones, to play such a vital match.

He also added that it was completely impossible for the boys of 18 or 19 years old to handle the ball in back four point and he has taken a big risk that resulted in negative.

Ajax has no other competitor in terms of handling and keeping good position of the ball on field and in this regard Ajax never disappoints its fans. The first goal that has been given by the team was actually a break for the team. Though Ferguson took that as a handball but finally Ozbiliz got a shot. However, he also admitted that now there is no point in regretting and he has to be cautious enough not to commence such mistakes once again.

Posada, who is now 40, is talking about his retirement, as he considers it the perfect time to retire from the game, and the official announcement of his retirement is on its way in the coming two weeks. He is retiring on his terms and this is the right way for him to retire. However, this news broke The Core Four to just Core Two, with Mariano Rivera and Derek Jeter left in the team.

Posada made the right decision of ending his career on a hitting and high note, by hitting .429 to lead Yankees to bat in their loss to Tigers. He also has a .579 on-base percentage to his credit over the last five games. Yankees has won 5 World Series Championship with The Core Four, and now Andy Pettitte and Posada are not a part of The Core Four. However, Posada was removed from the catching job prior to the last season, as he was struggling in the role of the hitter. He was also dropped to number 9 in batting order and was opted out in a game against Boston.

When it comes to catching, Posada said, ?It is a very challenging position in the team, and one of the best thing to get involved in as you can enjoy all the parts of the game.? Talking about his achievements, Posada boasts of 264 home runs as a catcher and 275 home runs in his career. Apart from Posada, the only catcher, who has hit more home runs for Yankees, was Yogi Berra. He scored 306 home runs for Yankees. Even though the season was a bit struggling for Posada, yet he played his best game when his team needed him, and this what everyone will remember about Posada.

Beibut Shumenov has clearly showed that he belonged to the big league of lightweight boxers as he successfully defended his WBA and IBA light heavyweight titles by defeating Danny Santiago on the Friday night bout at Las Vegas. The dominance of Shumenov over Santiago in the ninth round of the boxing bout forced referee to stop the game and handover the victory to the current light heavyweight champion. Beibut Shumenov hurt his opponent with a series of quick combinations that forced him into the ropes. Once Shumenov found that his opponent was struggling to counter punch, he decided to take advantage of the situation and landed a few more hefty blows on Santiago that forced the referee to stop the fight immediately.
Shumenov had total dominance over his opponent in the entire bout and landed powerful blows on Santiago?s head and body at will. Shumenov said that he expected Danny to put up a good show and was surprised to see a meek surrender by his opponent. Now, Shumenov has successfully defended his title for three fights in a row. His record now stands at 12-1 with eight knock outs in his twelve victories. While the performance of Shumenov in title bouts is pretty much a constant, his opponent Santiago has not won any of the three title matches that he has figured in. Santiago?s record has fallen down to 31-5-1. Shumenov pretty well knew that Santiago has trained hard to cover up his style of offensive boxing but felt that the opponent had an off day during the title bout.
But a victory is a victory and to be dominant for most parts of a title defending match speaks volume of the dedication and determination that Shumenov possess for his boxing. There are more challenges that will be coming in Shumenov?s way in the near future and he has to be at his supreme best in a bid to defend his title. As soon as Shumenov won the title bout, he was approached by former world champion Jean Pascal for another tile bout with him. Pascal wanted to have the fight in Canada. But, Shumenov, who hails from Kazakhstan, want to fight the former world champion Pascal at Las Vegas as he feels this is the right place where all champions fight. Whether Pascal will take up the challenge of fighting Shumenov in Las Vegas for a title bout will be revealed to the media in a few days time.

Mike Richards was traded to Los Angeles Kings in the month of June. He will do the role of forward for the kings. He was playing for Philadelphia flyers in the last season. There are rumors that he was sent away by the Philadelphia flyers because of his party boy activities and for not taking the role of captain seriously. Though Richard had denied the allegations by the media the officials of flyers are not satisfied. Richard talked with the media people and tried to clear him of their allegations .he was given support by the Kings fans.

Mike Richard was having a high position in Philadelphia but in Los Angeles kings he will be sharing his position with the top center Anze Kopitar. One of his teammate from Philadelphia will join him in Los Angeles. John Stevens the head coach of Philadelphia has been already appointed as an assistant to the Kings coach Terry Murray. It was with the help of Terry; Richard had made this transition happen. Simon Gagne an old friend of Richard will also join him in Los Angeles Kings

Richard who wants to have a new start is hoping that thing will go smoothly in Southern California. Richard is happy that he has reached a place about which he knows. He thinks that it will be therefore easier for him in focusing his energy in learning the pros and cons of his opponent rather than learning about the players in his own team. Richard believe that things will be lot more easier as he will get a chance to play with Simon Gagne, his former team mate, Dustin Brown the Captain of Kings, Kopitar and Justin Williams. He wants to leave behind him the allegations and accusations as party boy and want to move on. He is sure that he will be able to adjust to the conditions in Los Angeles within a short time.

When questioned about the reason for his trade he said he is not aware of any proper reason. But there were reports on news papers that some flyers have revealed that Richards?s hard partying nature has pushed him in to trouble. Richard is really unhappy about what is going behind him. He said that it is mentally draining to hear something about him that is not true in any sense. His fans hope that he will be more focused in LA.
